Is DDT Really a Problem?

Critics have pointed out that there isn’t enough scientific evidence to conclude that DDT is a serious health threat. In fact, there is more proof on the contrary. In one experiment, people took capsules with some DDT everyday for 18 months. After the 18 months, there were no measurable health concerns in anyone.

However, DDT remains a controversial topic!

Is There a Compromised Solution?

Currently, due to the controversy over DDT, DDT should be given a chance before mass marketing it. Our solution is that first, we should experiment with the concept of DDT.

1.   First, we will educate the farmers about the benefits and harms of DDT.

2.   A few willing farms, away from local water sources, will use DDT under supervision.

3.   We will have volunteering customers that will knowingly buy the products.

4.   They will have to have health check-ups every month for about 2 years.

5.   If after the two years, the ecosystem around the farm is stable, and the people who eat the foods are healthy, then DDT should be used in mass market.

6.   However, as precaution, farms using DDT must have regular check-ups (even after mass-marketing)  in order to make sure that they are not damaging the environment or the health of others. As another precaution, DDT should be kept away from bodies of water at all times.

7.   Products that have been involved in the use of DDT should be labelled so that customers are aware of what they are consuming, and so that they can make the choice that's right for them.
